The design and print service run by Chris Nyland and his business partner Dan Whitelock typifies the zest and vibrancy of young entrepreneurs in Gloucester.
They set up their business in 2007 and skill and hard work saw them reach a point where they needed to expand into bigger premises.
They wanted to stay in the city centre where a lot of their customers are based – but economic realities meant they also had to look at out of town locations.
But they found a solution with a business grant from the city council. With it they were able to take over a vacant premises in College Street in the heart of the Westgate area – and keep a thriving business in the city centre.
Now they are doing their bit to give something back to the local economy by taking on two extra staff – and an apprentice.
And the company is also ‘blogging’ on the internet with advice on the top ten tips for starting up a business.
…And that’s why Absolute Creative Marketing has been chosen as the ‘entrepreneur ambassadors’ in the City Council’s ‘Transforming your city’ campaign.
Explained Chris: “We have customers large and small across the country. But a big chunk of our work is supporting the many small businesses in Gloucester. Companies that don’t have their own marketing and creative teams.
“We were keen to stay in the city centre and the business grant we received from the city council has been instrumental in helping us to do this. It meant we could take on a bigger shop-front unit and expand the business. Now we also feel in a position that we can give something back to the city and the local economy.
“It’s these sort of small steps that are helping to transform Gloucester.”
